Bus

Traveling by bus gives you back time – time that you are not driving that you can use to relax, work or balance your check book.

Santa Cruz County is served by an extensive bus system, the Santa Cruz Metro Transportation District. Santa Cruz Metro carries over 5 million passengers each year, and has efficient over-the-hill service to downtown San Jose and connections with Bay Area Transit Systems with the 17 Express bus. To the south, Santa Cruz Metro service connects to Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) buses from Monterey County.

There are four bus centers in Santa Cruz County:

  • Capitola (1855 41st. Avenue, Capitola)
  • Santa Cruz (920 Pacific Avenue, Santa Cruz)
  • Scotts Valley (Cavallaro Transit Center at 246 Kings Village Road, Scotts Valley)
  • Watsonville (475 Rodriguez Street, Watsonville)

Through its ParaCruz program Santa Cruz Metro also offers accessible door-to-door shared ride service for people who are not able to use the bus due to disability. See the customer guide to this ADA paratransit service or call (831) 425-4664. For more accessible transportation options, see the RTC’s Guide to Specialized Transportation Services.

Bike to the bus stop! Santa Cruz Metro buses are equipped with three bus racks that carry bicycles on the front of the bus. Your folding bicycle can even ride with you inside the bus to your destination.
